The Study Centre for the Visually Impaired Students (SZS) of the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) is the applicant. The SZS started in 1987 as a special project called “Informatics for the Blind” offering a support programme for VI students in the following areas: from school to HE, during their studies till integration into an Open International Labour Market. Forming part of the Fac. of Informatics a lot of national and international research programmes are running. The SZS is world-wide the leading HE-institution offering such a holistic pedagogical and technological programme. The SZS-staff consists of 5 academic employees, one of them is blind.
